How to play Jotle
Jotle is a daily trivia game about Christianity. Every Question has many correct answers. Any of them counts, and the rarer your answer, the more it scores.
Each day
- Seven new Questions every weekday, mixing the Bible, theology, church history and Christian literature.
- Everyone in the world plays the same set. A new one starts at midnight UTC.
- Saturday and Sunday share one Weekend set of harder Questions meant to challenge the depths of your knowledge. You can play it Solo (30 seconds a Question) or as a Group (45 seconds, so you can talk it over).
Answering
- You have 30 seconds for each Question. Guess as much as you'd like: a wrong Guess only costs you time.
- Close spellings should be okay. If yours is nearly right, Jotle asks "Did you mean…?"
- You can keep guessing after a correct answer to find a rarer one. Your latest correct answer is the one that counts, or tap an earlier one to choose it instead.
- If an answer you know is correct but not accepted, you can contest it later.
Scoring
- Answers are Common, Uncommon, Rare or Very rare, and the rarer the answer, the more points it scores. Some can be a bit too cheeky or special, so we call 'em Out of the Jot.
- Your score is pencilled in as soon as you finish, that's a provisional scoring based on what we think is rare. Once everyone's answers are in at the daily reset, that's when it's inked based on the true rarity of your score.
- After each set you'll see every accepted answer, with its source.
- Think an answer of yours was marked wrong by mistake? Let us know through Feedback.
Perspective
-
We created this game with a reformed Protestant angle, focusing on trinitarian Christianity. And we're hoping everyone feels encouraged to know more about God, the Bible, and each other. There's so much to learn and love about our church history and the people who we share the same faith with.
